Are you looking for a totally different smell or are you just bored with your old ones?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want a perfume from an indie brand no one has heard of, so I have a story to tell when someone asks me!\u201d was her reply.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking about florals and Orientals and she was all about branding and fashion.<\/p>\n<p>I had to laugh, but on reflection, this was a wonderful insight.\u00a0 Because my Glamazon is right, your <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/fragrance\/elemental-fragrance\/\">fragrance<\/a> makes a statement and announces your arrival without saying a word. The brand you select can speak volumes too.<\/p>\n<p>Just like designer fashion, your scent is a powerful branding tool.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/autumn-the-season-of-senses\/\">sensory analysis<\/a>, the term \u201chedonics\u201d is being used to describe aspects of a fragrance or flavour related to how much we LIKE or DISLIKE it. This is a highly subjective and can vary wildly depending on the olfactory type and the geography, preferences and habits of the people involved.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-one\"><h1 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:30;line-height:var(--awb-typography1-line-height);\"><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Just like designer fashion, your scent is a powerful branding tool.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h2><\/h1><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p>The branding, imagery, shape of the bottle, colour of the packaging and even the celebrity endorsing a product can all heavily influence a perfume\u2019s \u201chedonics\u201d. Each of these factors has a subliminal effect on whether we \u201clike\u201d the product enough to buy it or not.<\/p>\n<p>Brands do a lot of research on this area. A fragrance may not score highly for hedonics when presented in a blank bottle and no packaging. If you then repeat this test with full branding and packaging however, the hedonic scores may well change.<\/p>\n<p>A bestselling perfume has to hit that \u201csweet spot\u201d of good timing, the right hedonics, being a \u201ccool\u201d brand and a certain <em>je ne sais quoi <\/em>which, you cannot define or predict.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, if the brand itself seems edgy, unique, exciting or different, this can permeate into the brand narrative, attracting fashionable and image-conscious consumers.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve often asked consumers \u201cWhich perfumes do you wear?\u201d, and they answer \u201cI wear Chanel\/Tom Ford, Creed\/ Versace\u2026\u201d.
