Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_a_digital_detox\"><\/span><strong>What is a digital detox? <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A digital detox is when a person refrains from using tech devices for a period of time: this can include smart phones, televisions, tablets and social media.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_some_of_the_benefits_of_a_Digital_Detox\"><\/span><strong>Here\u2019s some of the benefits of a Digital Detox:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_can_help_you_sleep_better\"><\/span><strong>It can help you <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/category\/health-and-wellbeing\/sleep\/\">sleep<\/a> better<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The light from devices can also causes issues with sleep: so switching off can also mean you\u2019ll sleep better too!<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"WorkLife_Balance\"><\/span><strong>Work\/Life Balance<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>It may also help you create a better work\/life balance\u2026 many people may find themselves checking work emails on their time off, so by disconnecting from devices you\u2019ll be able to fully take a break from work, even if it\u2019s just for the evening.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FOMO_is_real\"><\/span><strong>FOMO is real<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The fear of missing out is ever present online, particularly social media. You\u2019re constantly seeing what other people are doing and you may unconsciously compare yourself to others, leading to feelings of being left behind or not doing enough. This could be as simple as starting by turning off notifications on your phone, just do what steps you can.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Be_mindful\"><\/span><strong>Be mindful<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Every time you reach for your phone: think about why you need to before you switch it on. When you\u2019re using technology, be more aware of when you\u2019re using it so you\u2019re fully appreciating it and can be more mindful, rather than passive.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Set_yourself_a_bedtime_routine\"><\/span><strong>Set yourself a bedtime routine<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Stop going on devices at least 2 hours before bed: this will help you to switch off. Have a bath or read a book. If you like listening to music, you could use your phone to play the music but if you can, keep notifications off (or even switch to airplane mode) so you don\u2019t get distracted by texts or notifications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be present<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re spending time with friends or family, keep your devices tucked away so you can fully engage with others. You can also put away devices during mealtimes.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Adjust_your_phone\"><\/span><strong>Adjust your phone<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>If you\u2019re finding yourself stuck on certain apps, try and set up time limits on these apps so you can control how long you\u2019re on them.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Find_another_hobby_to_fill_the_time\"><\/span><strong>Find another hobby to fill the time<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>If you find yourself scrolling in those times between tasks or when you don\u2019t know what else to do: find something else to fill your time. This could be reading, writing, listening to music, or doing some exercise. Spend time in nature.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clean_up_your_social_media_and_feeds\"><\/span><strong>Clean up your social media and feeds<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Do you feel down after going on social media? Make sure to curate your social media with uplifting content that inspires you and uplifts you, not ones that make you feel bad about yourself and drag you down. Take some time to go through your feed and unsubscribe \/ unfollow anyone who doesn\u2019t bring you joy.
