It takes mindfulness and hard work, BUT it is worth it. Here are some tips on how to start building up your self-esteem and confidence.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So%E2%80%A6_what_is_self-esteem\"><\/span><strong>So\u2026 what is self-esteem?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Self-esteem is the opinion we have about ourselves, and how we value ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, when we have healthy self-esteem, we feel positive about ourselves and our lives. It helps us deal better with whatever life throws at us \u2013 both good and bad.<\/p>\n<p>When our self-esteem is low, we tend to be more critical of ourselves and see ourselves in a negative light\u2026 which makes us feel like able to take on life\u2019s challenges. You may hide, or avoid doing things that are challenging and this can form some unhelpful habits in the long term as well as leading to harming your mental health and mood.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here\u2019s some things you can do to improve your self-esteem. <\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Connect_with_others\"><\/span><strong>Connect with others<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Relationships with others are one of the key aspects of our emotional happiness. The closer you are, the more supported you feel.<\/p>\n<p>Connect with those who are already in your life \u2013 but also make an effort to meet new people.<\/p>\n<p>There is limited research on the topic of <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/simple-ways-to-reduce-the-impact-of-loneliness\/\">loneliness<\/a>, but we do know that it can have severe impacts on our physical health; Loneliness, living alone and poor social connections are as bad for your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. (Holt-Lunstad, 2010).<\/p>\n<p>Reach out to friends and family, you\u2019ll feel more supported and valued when you\u2019re connecting to others which will raise you up.
