You are not alone. Sleeping during lockdown brought new challenges for everyone. A survey released recently revealed that 60% found the change in routine impacted their sleep patterns longterm. March is Sleep Awareness Month and World Sleep Day on the 18<sup>th<\/sup> of March, so we reached out to Jo Foster, founder of Kiss the Moon to share her tips on how to fix your sleep schedule\u2026 enjoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My last job involved a huge amount of travel. As a result, I felt like I had jetlag for about four years. My sleep suffered and so did my skin and my mood. I searched around for a solution and that\u2019s where I started understanding the link between sleep and our sense of smell. When I couldn\u2019t find exactly the right product to solve my sleep dilemmas for me (I wanted something natural and not smelling like old lady lavender), I decided to learn how to make something myself and the face oils and bath oils were born. But going to sleep and waking up at the same time improves the quality of rest your chances of a good nights shut eye.<\/p>\n<p>Because\u00a0we sleep in cycles it is good to think about sleep in 90 minute chunks. Pick a time that you want to wake up, work back the number of hours you need to sleep\u00a0(for most\u00a0of us that is 7-8 hrs a night) and set yourself a bedtime from there.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_%E2%80%93_Exercise_by_day\"><\/span><strong>#2\u00a0&#8211; Exercise by day<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Our bodies are designed to move by day so they can sleep\u00a0by night. If you can get outside in the fresh air then make that a priority. Exercises\u00a0outside helps you get a dose of daylight which helps set your body clock to\u00a0the right time zone. The more we move, the better we sleep. The biggest single tip we give to those struggling to sleep is to create a little evening ritual that helps you wind down and drift off to sleep feeling calm and contented.<\/p>\n<p>Even a fifteen minute wind down at night can act like a pressure valve,\u00a0helping you make sense of the day and quieten your mind before bed<\/p>\n<p>Our first choice would be to head straight to the only room in the house with a lock on the door &#8211; the bathroom. Run yourself a deep warm bath then add music, soft lighting and a generous helping of your favourite relaxing bath oil. The soothing effect of a soak in scented, warm water helps to relax muscles and the slight fall in temperature as you step out nudges your body in to sleep mode<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_%E2%80%93_Still_Struggling\"><\/span><strong>#4\u00a0&#8211; Still Struggling?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The worst thing you can do when you need to get to sleep but can\u2019t is to lie in bed worrying about it. Experts recommend trying to switch your brain into something mundane &#8211; so something like counting sheep, or playing a simple word game is perfect. \u00a0If that doesn\u2019t work &#8211; get up, leave your bedroom and do something else to distract yourself. Don\u2019t rely on a computer or smartphone screen though, or the <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/its-all-about-skin\/the-truth-about-blue-light-and-why-your-skin-might-care\/\">blue light<\/a> it emits will tell your brain it\u2019s time to wake up.
