In this post, Denise Rabor shares her wisdom on how to overcome fear, break free from self-sabotage, and take small steps forward with courage.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Fear_Holds_Us_Back\"><\/span><strong>Why Fear Holds Us Back<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Fear is something that affects every one of us in one way or another every day \u2013 and it\u2019s natural, normal and nothing to be ashamed of. With that said, I think it\u2019s important to point out that statistically, women are more prone to fear than men in as much as we are more likely to allow our fears to keep us tied to our comfort zone. Now, don\u2019t get me wrong, a comfort zone is not a bad thing and at times it\u2019s just where we need to be for stability and respite,\u00a0and I\u2019m sure we can all relate to that.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is that fear is powerful and it can evolve from a fleeting emotion to something more limiting, especially\u00a0when it moves away from being your every day \u201cof the moment fear\u201d into the kind of fear that keeps us stuck.\u00a0When fear takes control we can find ourselves\u00a0unable to make changes in our lives\u00a0and break free from old stories and patterns,\u00a0unable to take that advantage of opportunities that we\u2019ve probably dreamt of and yet when they appear our fears prevent us from grabbing them \u2013 so we say stuck which can lead to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/mind\/dont-stress-about-being-stressed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/mind\/dont-stress-about-being-stressed\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1738857301431000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3YRrh4CLnIx_3TfiHpw6vh\">stress<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/mind\/heres-your-anxiety-busting-toolkit\/\">anxiety<\/a> as our inner dialogue becomes increasingly fraught.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly a lot of this fear stems from feelings of: low self esteem, lack of confidence and feeling inadequate, of not being enough, and the self-sabotaging behaviour that manifests from this isn\u2019t always something that we are even aware of.<\/p>\n<p>We can find ourselves worrying about all of the things that could go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Okay let\u2019s take a moment to think about how fear manifests in your life&#8230; It\u2019s usually through self-sabotaging behaviours like:<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procrastination\"><\/span><strong>Procrastination<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Procrastination is a way of managing our fear of failure or indeed your fear of success : those times where you delay the realisation of your goals..it can look like failing to manage your time so you end up rushing to do things at the last minute all stressed, flustered and annoyed.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Poor_time_management\"><\/span><strong>Poor time management<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Failing to meet deadlines and other things that allow you to bring your best self forward. Not switching off your devices and laying down to rest before midnight when you know full well that helps you to get up in earlier &amp; to perform better when you\u2019re well-rested\u2026<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Breaking_Free_From_Self-Sabotage\"><\/span><strong>Breaking Free From Self-Sabotage<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The list of self-sabotaging behaviours that we indulge in because of our fears is endless. The thing is that sometimes we\u2019re not even fully aware of our fears.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_how_can_we_start_to_manage_this_and_move_forward_in_spite_of_our_fears\"><\/span><strong>So how can we start to manage this and move forward in spite of our fears?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>One step at a time \u2013 inch by inch with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/choose-kindness-for-your-mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/wowbeauty.co\/health-and-wellbeing\/choose-kindness-for-your-mental-health\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1738857301431000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2GODhs8d_UeLGnLZI4xzK2\">kindness<\/a>\u2026. remember that it takes time to create change. Ultimately it\u2019s not about being fearless it\u2019s about being able to fear \u2018less\u2019.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take some time to reflect on your fears. Take the one that bugs you the most and ask yourself this: what is the worst that could happen if I do \u2026\u2026 [ fill in whatever it is]<\/li>\n<li>Make an honest list of your 5 top self sabotaging behaviours ( examples are at the bottom)<\/li>\n<li>Sit down with a sheet of paper or notebook and make a list of things that you\u2019ve missed out on over the last 3 months out of fear or self-sabotage.<\/li>\n<li>Now pick one behaviour that you\u2019re going to work on: the idea is that you\u2019ll work on it for the next 21 days. Make a list of the positive ways in which you can manage this particular behaviour, so for example if you\u2019re working on lateness due to \u2018lastminute.comitis\u2019 then your list might include:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Listing in order of priority the things that you have to do each morning<\/li>\n<li>Deciding to do a brain dump every evening of things that you need to get done, putting them in order of priority<\/li>\n<li>Creating a timed schedule for the 1st\u00a0couple of hours of your day.<\/li>\n<li>Try asking yourself \u2013 what steps do I have to take in order to get to my destination on time? Eg.
